CT Teacher Accused Of Leaving Children Home Alone While She Traveled Out Of State

A Connecticut school teacher has been arrested for allegedly leaving two children home alone while she traveled out of the state.

Litchfield County resident Kerry Lyn Caviasca, age 36, of Watertown, was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 15, for leaving two children alone for two days and nights, said Detective Mark Conway, of the Watertown Police.

According to Conway, the children are ages 9 and 11.

She was charged with the risk of injury to a minor and released on a $5,000 bond.

Caviasca teaches in New Haven County at West Side Middle School in the Waterbury school district.

Waterbury Public Schools officials released a statement saying they had been informed of the allegation.

"The alleged actions do not represent the values of our district," the district said.

Caviasca is currently on leave.
